“Death on the Trail” Reynolds

The unlikely origins of an International Peace Park

As one of Glacier’s first park rangers, Albert Reynolds watched over a massive area in the north of the park. He started going by the nickname “Death on the Trail” while he was still alive.

By reading his journals—and meeting a modern day backcountry ranger—we uncover the connection between Reynolds and the world’s first international peace park.

Excerpted from the episode Confluence | Goat Haunt, from season one of Headwaters. Season One set out to share stories of nature and culture from each major region of Glacier National Park.

I made a bread pudding for dinner and took a cup of cold water.

That was my Christmas.
